Johnny and Jack Enrile

Many weeks ago, senatorial candidates Grace Poe and Alan Peter Cayetano had their lives featured in the longest running drama anthology, Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK), that is being hosted by Ms. Charo Santos.

Not to be outdone, two weeks just prior to the election, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile’s life drama was also featured in a mini-series. It will not only aired in one, but two Saturdays preceding election date. While SPJE is not running yet for re-election as he has remaining 3 years to his term, his son, Jack Enrile is. And by virtue of name recall, this hopes to boost the dropping rank of Jack Enrile during the recent SWS surveys.

On the eve of the declaration of Martial Law, JPE’s convoy was ambushed at Wack-wack, San Juan. This then justified the declaration of Martial Law. On 1986, while JPE and Fidel Ramos drifted to the side of Mrs Corazon Aquino during the snap election, JPE revealed that the his ambush then was staged, fake. (Read: However, in his memoirs, JPE recanted and claimed that the ambush on him was real. (Read:

I wonder, which version of the ambush will be aired during the MMK run of his bio-drama. Moreover, I never thought JPE was as handsome as Enrique. (teehee)

Reading my timeline yesterday, I came across a retweet from @doc4dead that said…Image

In response to this, @ChiliMedley said that another friend @NoOtherNicky was almost killed as well by the back-up vehicle of Jack Enrile few weeks ago.

Few weeks ago, there was news that Jack Enrile’s convoy, while en route to Tagum City, unidentified gunmen fired at their vehicles while they were at Mawag, Compostela Valey. Fortunately, no one was hurt. (Read:… Hmmmm smells fishy, sounds familiar.

Jack Enrile was one of the top absentee during the 15th congress. He only attended 44 sessions, making him rank 4th of the congressmen with the most absences. Apparently he improved though. Because in the year 2011, he was 6th ranking among those with most number of absences.

Apparently he didn’t like his job of attending congressional sessions and prefer to be with his constituents. If this was his attitude when he was a congressman, why would I trust him to be a senator, especially while his father is there for three years? Did he have epiphany that his calling is to become a senator rather than be a congressman that this time around he won’t be a perennial absentee? (Read: Also check:

On Maligno, Jojo and Nancy

Once upon a time in the Middle Earth Kingdom of the Philippines, there lived several earth elements – tikbalang/kapre, dwende/nuno, tiyanaks, maligno, bampira and aswang. On that fateful day when they had to choose a leader, the maligno won the 2nd highest most coveted position in that kingdom. The leader of the kingdom created a policy never to usurp their power and violate rules, require privileges and special treatments. But in his few days in position, maligno was already seen being drunk with power. He was also noticed to be in eager anticipation of his rise the Number One position after 72 moons; he was already seen violating some even their simple broomstick rules. Not only did his convoy beat the red light, they turned on a no left turn lane.

Asked one time why he disregarded their broomstick rule, he said “wala namang wangwang e.” To which an irate aswang said… “Hindi literal ang ibig sabihin ng wangwang. Ang ibig sabihin ng “utak wangwang” walang special broomstick privileges porke opisyal ka ng lamang lupa, hindi lang yong pagpapatunog ng wangwang habang lumilipad ka sa broomstick mo. Shunga!”

Why won’t I vote for Nancy Binay? Let me count the ways…

1. Her slogan in her TV ad said: Nancy Binay, ang Nanay de Pamilya sa senado. @rapplerdotcom: Nancy Binary: Parody on son most hurtful “‘Wag na nila isama yong pamilya ko, lalo na ‘yung mga anak ko.” #PHvote”. — Now will you explain what does it mean to be Nanay de Pamilya yet you refuse to have your family parodied? …. Oh, no answer?

2. @inquirerdotnet: Nancy Binay still won’t do debates” – ano gagawin niya sa senado, interpreter para sa deaf-mute?

Nancy Binay, “Nanay de Pamilya sa senado,” still won’t do debates. – Ano gagawin niya sa senado, magpapadede habang nag-iinterpret para sa deaf-mute?

What makes Nancy be qualified to run as a senator?

VP Jojo Binay: well, she is my daughter. – Ukim!

Nancy: I was my father’s executive assistant. I was qualified by COMELEC. – Nancy, you may be qualified by the COMELEC, but to us voters, you are incompetent. Two words, big difference.

(I do not own this photo. Thanks to the one who created this meme.)

I had been trying to embed here the video clip from Saksi of that incident when he beat the red light, went against no left turn, but it cant seem get posted. I can post the link during editing but when I view the post, it does not appear. “Namaligno ata…” Anyway, this was the embed link I was trying to post:

JOJO vs BAYANI (2010)

Observe closely and find out who is blatantly lying.

If 2016 presidential election would be a choice between Jojo Binay and Kris Aquino, I would rather vote for Kris who pays her taxes well. She too is transparent enough, she can’t hide anything. Meanwhile, Binay violates traffic rules. He may have apologized then, but if you heard his explanation, it was full of bullshit.

The UNA 3 kings later instructed Gwen Garcia, Cebu’s governor accused of graft, to defy the orders of the Sandiganbayan and Ombudsman to step down from position as the case is being heard against her.

Bromance, Anti-Gay

We always keep on hearing about Koko Pimentel trading barbs against Migz Zubiri. And the issue that he keeps on harping is the cheating during the 2004 elections. Koko still can’t get over how he was deprived of 4 2/12 of being a senator and keeps on calling Migz “pekeng senador.” Even his tagline loudly speaks how bitter he was of his stolen tenure in the senate, “kapag walang madaya, buhay kay saya.”

Migz apparently already fed up has this to say: “Bakit ako ang laging tinitira mo? May crush ka ba sa akin?” I almost spewed out what  I was drinking when I read this article. It is just so immature for supposedly dignified men to utter.

(full story here:

Uyyy, brokeback mountain / bromance na yan.

March: Women’s (and Anti-Gay) Month

It seems that March is not only the month dedicated to women. It seems that in the Philippines, it is also Anti-Gay month.

1. Few days ago, TV Host and Philstar columnist Christine Bersola-Babao wrote an article for parenting “Being Gay.” It described being gay as (1) a disorder, (2) a choice, (3) curable by re-orienting “misbehavior” during early childhood (eg, dolls are for girls, guns are for boys; you are girl, you should be liking a boy and vice versa). If all else fair, as a “consuelo de bobo,” the parents just have to accept their child who ended gay (as if they failed in their responsibility to groom the child.” Of course, there’s that famous line where Miriam Quiambao said homosexuality is a “lie from the devil.” Naturally, sound people and LGBT sympathizers hit the irresponsibly written article and gave the writer as well as interviewee Dr. Camille Garcia a dose of their own medicine.

What I loved of those who reacted was the statement by the Psychologists Association of the Philippines which reaffirmed its position borne from scientific knowledge that being gay is not a disease or disorder. Moreover, PAP enjoins Filipino psychologists to stand by their professional and ethical commitments to affirm the rights and wellbeing of all individuals.

PAP President Dr. Gina Hechanova said “the article presents a view of homosexuality that is clearly misinformed. We wish to invite the public to read more appropriate response to the same questions posed in the article. We also encourage media practitioners who wish to get professional psychological advice to see the list of certified psychologists in the PAP.

Which made me say, wow, Dra Camille, aray este OUCH!

2. On the very first day of the month, @greco_belgica, a senatorial candidate (DA WHO? I didn’t know we have such a candidate), has this to tweet:

Okay, so the tweet was not entirely homophobic. But what was striking was that he equated “bakla” with weakness, cowardice. Napoleon Bonaparte was gay, yet he was a conqueror if you must know Belgica. Moreover, in the history of Philippine Cinema, (and may I paraphrase this line from Direk Joey Reyes) Vice Ganda, a known gay, cross dressers still holds the most grossing film ever. Not your straight guy Lito Lapid or Derek Ramsay, but Vice Ganda, GAY.  Just because you don’t fight head on against your enemy doesn’t mean you’re gay enough to pull the trigger.

3. And then came the new pope, Pope Francis, who is… (drum roll) anti-gay, who referred to adoption by gay parents as a form of “discrimination against children..”

(Read more:

4. Not to be outdone, one of the senatorial candidate from the Ang Kapatiran party, Marwil Llasos admitted that he has “same sex affection” but shuns same sex as he has taken a vow of celibacy and purity.

Hail storm hits Quezon City. To which @mitosmagsaysay said “heaven must be crying. What was done must be undone.”

Mayor Lim and Erap Estrada signed peace pact last month. But in their face-off, they were cat-fighting without the actual face scratching motions. So I guess, peace pact nowadays mean that.

Chopsuey: Political Tidbits

Papa Fiiiiiiii ! Ay, Francis Pala

Few days before conclave began, a reporter asked Mario Jose Bergoglio what makes his son, Jorge Mario Bergoglio, qualify to be the next pope. Without a thought, Mario Jose quickly said, “well, he is my son.”

Nancy: DA WHO?

Apparently, Nancy Binay was not the only one who was dragged into politics after serving as executive assistant of her father. During the time of GMA, Jobo Magsaysay, son of senatorial candidate Mitos Magsaysay was also appointed as director of the SBMA at age 23 without any prior experience aside from being the personal assistant of his own mother.

Marwil Llasos: Handsome

Marwil Llasos said he has “same sex affection” but denies having consummated a male to male intercourse because he has vows of celibacy and purity. To which the pigs at the pigpen said, ikaw na ang endorser ng PURINA. (hashtag waley).

Marwil Llasos never had sex with men even if he so desires them. He vowed for celibacy and purity. And a gay viewer of the show said “O siya, hiyang hiya naman kami sa iyong pagkabanal, pagkadalisay, pagkamayumi. But I’m sure, if you were never in a threesome nor a twosome, then definitely you at least did a HANDSOME.” (Ang di makagets pupulutin sa row 10).

Mitos: Feisty?

Mitos Magsaysay says “kung gusto niyo ng senador na walang takot bumangga kahit sino, iboto nyo ako.” Miriam Defensor Santiago, known to be feisty senator herself said, “YOU DONT DO THAT TO ME. I’m still here as the most feisty lady senator. Anong sinabi ng hayahay mo sa mga pick-up lines ko?”

Migs vs Koko Anew

Migz Zubiri and Koko Pimentel quarrel has taken another level, below the belt level. Tired of being accused to have cheated and stole 4 years 2 months of Koko’s senatorial tenure, Migz revealed the alleged reason why Koko and beauty queen wife separated. Koko asked Migz to stop his allegations as this is unfounded rumor. Migz insisted that Koko’s wife was crying while confessing to Migz and his wife. Koko said that if Migz do not stop with this allegation, he might be forced to file libel case against Migz. And then someone said to Koko’s wife ” beauty queen ka tapos papayag kang ang bubugbog lang sa yo ay chaka?”

Oppa Gurang Style

Erap and Maceda had been dancing Gangnam style during their sorties. Palace advised them to leave dancing ang skit to the circus.

Mitos’ Harlem Shake, Desperado?

Mitos Magsaysay gamely joined Alma Concepcion to dance Harlem Shake during one of the UNA’s sorties. Suddenly, my Westlife CD played “desperado, why don’t you come to your senses…”

SWS Survey: UNAs Bitterness

Toby Tiangco was highly critical of the latest SWS survey where 8 of 12 slots belonged to Team PNoy, with Bam Aquino as the biggest gainer. And the UNA candidates dropping off. He wanted the SWS to reveal who funded the survey.

Pag UNA ang leading, it’s the people’s will. Pag UNA ang talo, the survey is questionable. Asus!

Zubiri: Fake Senator, Fake Followers?

A website revealed that among the senatorial candidates, Migz Zubiri has the most number of fake twitter followers with 86% of them fake, and revealed that he only has 2% real followers. Anobayan, peke na ngang senador, pati twitter followers, peke? Ano pa ba ang peke sa kanya. (Then “konsensiya” suddenly shouted “kasarian?”)

Dick and Anus (Ayyyyy!)

Dick Gordon’s TVC banners a child who was born with impeforate anus. Was it aimed to be dramatic to draw sympathy from watchers? In his TVC, a child poetically narrates “pinanganak akong may sakit, walang butas aking puwet. Sa kanya kami lumapit…” To which the imperforate anus said “hiyang hiya naman ako sa yo, Dick. Ikaw pa talaga dahilan na nagkabutas at lumuwag ako.”

Dirty Harry vs Dirty Finger

Mayor Lim and Joseph Estrada, before the elections have signed a peace pact for a peaceful campaign and elections. But few days ago, during their face off, Lim and Estrada had been throwing muds against each other.

After one of their face off, while Estrada was leaving the venue, a young voter, supporter of “Dirty Harry” was flashing the “L” sign. Estrada thought the L meant “Libog,” so in return, he flashed a “dirty finger.” Unfortunately that was caught on camera.

LP vs UNA, Bam Aquino

Yesterday, Headstart on ANC hosted by Karen Davila had the campaign managers of the leading political parties for the senatorial elections as hosts. They were Toby Tiangco for TeamUNA and Erin Tañada for TeamPNoy. I was not able to watch the show as my cable subscription do not have it, but reading through my timeline, here is what I got from some of my friends.

Team UNA vs Team PNoy

In observation of how the two campaign managers conduct themselves in answering questions, this was what Ramon Carrion (@rzc235 on twitter) said:

Comparing the attitude and the facial expressions alone of both spokespersons, LP and UNA, this morning says it all! One is new politics the other is bringing back the old.

One is vicious in attacking candidates of the opposite side, while the other remained calm and focused on issues rather than personal attacks.

During the same interview, Bam Aquino, who was the biggest gainer in the last published SWS Survey done during the last week of February, Tiango has said a lot, including why he remained with the GMA administration despite knowing the latter is “corrupt.” On this issue, and it was my first time to know after a friend posted this in his facebook status:

On HEADSTART this morning (going on as I write), UNA campaign manager really sounds like he’s clutching at straws as he tries to question Bam Aquino’s credentials. He cites Paul Aquino’s (Bam’s dad) being Gloria Arroyos campaign manager and Bam’s long standing service with the NYC. He then points to Bam’s near complicity in GMAs corruption by alluding that Bam, serving so long, should know if GMA was corrupt or not.

I suppose I’ll forgive Toby, not because hes a batch mate at Xavier, but more because he doesn’t know the facts about Bam’s stint and continuing stay in the National Youth Commission.

When the Hyatt 10 decided to leave the service of GMA (as they believed that she had cheated) Bam Aquino spoke to my mom, Vicky Garchitorena (Mrs. G), then head of the Presidential Management Staff if he should leave his post. Mrs. G, who was about to leave her position as well, told Bam that (and Im quoting from memory so I might be paraphrasing) “Bam if you can still serve and be effective in your position you should stay…”.

Now, You have to understand that the core Hyatt 10 left as they were being made INSTRUMENTS of the corruption, being so high in the bureaucratic hierarchy.

In my mom’s case, aside from having already told GMA that her (my mom’s) time in the govt would be limited to a year or so (our family couldnt afford TWO public servants in the family with my father being Presiding Justice of the Sandigan Bayan), also left (a little later) after the Hyatt 10 declaration.

So the question is, why a little later ,and why give Bam the option to stay.

This was actually the gigantic moral dilemma that plagued any person who was thinking to resign at the time. Do you stay and serve a cheating president if you can still be effective in your position. For many key players, they thought that their positions were so thoroughly compromised by the relationships GMA had made that they were going to become tools of GMA’s corruption.

As far as I can recall, the “ a little later” was due to the fact that even though certain cabinet secretaries had resigned from a moral perspective, each of them also STILL felt that certain ongoing projects could not be left hanging. So some left quickly (to avoid being a key part of the corruption) and some left a little later (as the could still be effective in their jobs).

Apparently taking this to heart as good advice Bam stayed in his position.

So that’s the answer (as far as I know) why Bam continued his stint at the NYC under the GMA regime.

And for Toby (sorry buddy) as Campaign Manager for UNA, to even use Bam’s long tenure as an indication of Bam’s complicity in GMA’s corruption is unfair and as close to character assassination as you can get.

Poor form.

I had not known this fact. Good thing I came across this status in my facebook timeline. At least for those of you reading this, that issue has now been rectified.

Senatorial Candidates: Fake vs Real Followers

Have you ever wondered how many fake twitter followers you were able to amass throughout your time in twitter?

There’s a website where you can check how many of your followers are fake, inactive and good members. I tried checking my own account and here is the report that I got:

Curiously, I checked about our senatorial candidates who among them have good vs fake followers using the same software. In a tabular form, I presented each of the account’s statuses. Please be warned that the status may change from time to time as one person acquires new followers.

Do take a look.

The free version of the software does not however show the definitions of what a faker, inactive and good followers.

The software shows us then that the number of followers the candidate has would always be tantamount to the number of their political supporters. The problem now is how to convert those inactive members to be active or good followers, and to convince them to be a supporter and in turn campaign for their candidacy.

On another website,, I tried to check on my number of real followers and this was my rating:

Similarly, I audited each senatorial candidate’s account using the same application and yielded the following results:

About TwitterAudit

Each audit takes a random sample of 5000 Twitter followers for a user and calculates a score for each follower. This score is based on number of tweetsdate of the last tweet, and ratio of followers to friends. We use these scores to determine whether any given user is real or fake. Of course, this scoring method is not perfect but it is a good way to tell if someone with lots of followers is likely to have increased their follower count by inorganic, fraudulent, or dishonest means.

TwitterAudit is not affiliated with Twitter in any way.

Thumbs Down: JV Estrada and Mitos Magsaysay

My criteria for determining whom to vote for in the senate are: 1. principles, 2. conviction, 3. support for women’s right, very particularly RH Bill, 4. support for equality, ie, LGBT rights.

He hopes to be judged for who he is. He wants to be voted on for who he is. He wanted initially to be known as an EJERCITO, not as ESTRADA. Despite advice from his father he insisted to be known by himself. But when he saw that he had a better chance when he uses the name Estrada instead, “the hell with principle! (my own)” He ditched
Ejercito and rode on with the “bandwagon of name recall assures victory heck.”

(This was also discussed during his guesting stint in Karen Davila’s Headstart on ANC.) (Reference:

During the heated debate on and passage of RH Bill, he voted no. I thought it was his own decision to vote for no, most importantly, it was the sentiments of his district that he represents. But then, he said, his father, the former president Erap Estrada is a supporter of the bill, but his mother is a rabid anti. He didn’t want to burn bridges with his mother and since the bill will win anyway without his additional vote, he voted NO. So, who is the person/people he represents as a congressman, his constituents? or his mother? Had he consulted his district what they think is best for them, as their REPRESENTATIVE?

I do not contest the fact that JV has vast achievements and awards. That’s commendable of a public servant. But as a voter too, what I cannot accept is the fact that he thinks of his “own” safety, of what’s advantageous/beneficial for him, sans the welfare of his constituents, sans his conviction. What if in the course of his term as a senator, and a controversial bill gets voted on, (eg, divorce) what if he is pro-divorce, but his mother is anti-divorce? So he will instead vote against divorce to appease his mother, and not the majority of Filipino wives who have been subjected to different abuses but cannot escape and afford annulment because of it’s tedious process and cost?

For a public servant, I always look for palabra de honor, delicadeza, strong will, principle. These I failed to see in him. Thus despite his many achievements, he can’t convince me to vote for him.

The hell with principles and conviction. (tosses papers on air!)

Months ago, when asked if she is Gloria Macapagal Arroyo apologist, she denied it. She said, they only see each other during sessions in congress but they are not close. Really now?

What is this?

GMA appointed Jesus Vicente “Jobo” Magsaysay, then 23 years old as SBMA director. Then Sen. Dick Gordon and Zambales Gov. Amor Deloso protested as he has never held a job prior to this appointment. Jobo quickly denied the allegation as he first worked as a political officer in the congressional office of his MOTHER, Mitos Magsaysay. (just like Nancy Binay, eh?) Besides this allegation, Gordon also said on Dec 15 that RA 7227, the Bases Conversion Law that created SBMA, was not followed in Magsaysay’s appointment.

If GMA and Mitos Magsaysay were NOT allies, then how the hell on earth would Jobo be appointed at such a young age, without necessary experience, to be a DIRECTOR? Had draw lots been the basis of appointment that time and out of millions of names, it was Jobo’s name picked by GMA?

She always claim in her credentials that she has been awarded as Emeritus Most Outstanding Congresswoman. During who’s presidency? Well, no less that GMA again. She has a lot to thank GMA for from that closeness, but when GMA was in custody and was asked if she is an apologist, she distanced herself saying she only sees her during sessions in the congress. Oh, what a great friend she makes! Worth-keeping indeed.

(full story here:

She calls herself a champion of the Magna Carta Law for women, according to the tweet of @jonasbagas. Then @jeffcrisostomo checked the if indeed it is true. Fortunately or unfortunately, Mitos Magsaysay was not a co-author nor was she ever mentioned. Well, maybe, you don’t have to be a co-author to be a champion of one advocacy then huh? But she was a congresswoman at the time this was passed in the congress (or am I wrong?).

According to her as well, the Magna Carta for Women was sufficient enough to address the reproductive health needs of the woman, thus the reason why she voted against it.

In our argument before, she said that instead of budget for contraceptives, the money should be rather used to build more schools, diverted to education. In some points, I agree. In reply, I said, the government cannot go on building schools. Besides, there’s no more available land to build schools as our population is expanding. The population density is already too much that we are already interfering even to agricultural and forest lands just have a place to live on. Rice fields are being converted into subdivisions (by Manny Villar, etc.). Climate change is a real threat and with such heavy population, the government cannot sustain much. The taxpayers’ money cannot always be used for dole outs. There comes a point when budget should be shifted to something else, such as security and intelligence, research and development, science and technology. She didn’t answer me. Then unknowingly, she blocked me in her twitter account.

When after voting for RH interpellations to be terminated, a storm visited the country. This was her tweet:

Definitely, netizens reacted to such tweet.

Of course, she denied that her tweet was pertaining to the rains as a wrath of God for having terminated the interpellation of the bill, and have it put to a vote.

Her platform says “libreng pagamutan para healthy kayo.” Isn’t there already a functional government health centers where people can avail of free health services? Even before she decided to run, these are already in the running. Of course, there are areas not reached by such services but she cannot make this her platform, which is already existing.

“Scholarship sa kolehiyo, at skills training, para magkatrabaho kayo.” Hello TESDA? In short, her propaganda or platform is nothing new, it’s not unique, and all she is saying is just pure bull shit.

“Kung gusto niyo ng taong palaban at di natatakot banggain kahit sino, iboto nyo ako.” Is she insane? The senate is a place to create laws that will uphold the welfare of the citizens, not some arena where one will fight against each other. Of course there will be discourse and arguments but it is not a sports tournament. Well, well, well, Mitos, your negativistic aura and quips are not helping you. Look at the survey if you don’t even dare to believe me. I suggest she rather change her tagline as “Ang Senadorang Askal.” Suits her well.

How epal is Mitos? Just see them yourselves…

And even her son, who is gunning for a congressional seat in her behalf sort of inherited her epal-ness.

The NFA label on rice packages were changed to JOBO Rice. When asked is it right for such act to be done, her reply was…
